President Prabowo Subianto Emphasizes Courage, Fortitude, and Loyalty as Values of National Struggle
President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of upholding the values of struggle, courage, fortitude, and loyalty in fighting for the nation and state.
The President delivered the remarks while attending the peak commemoration of the 28th anniversary of the National Mandate Party (PAN) at the Plenary Hall, Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Jakarta, Friday (9/18).
According to him, people meet and form friendships in the struggle because of shared values: values of struggle that require courage to uphold, as well as fortitude, resilience, and loyalty.
“It’s true that we meet and we become friends because of values; the value of struggle. When the founders of our nation proclaimed independence, it was also a time of uncertainty. Some took part, some waited and watched, and some sided with the colonialists. So, I believe that the value of struggle requires courage to fight for. Secondly, the value of struggle requires fortitude, steadfastness, and loyalty,” said the President.
Drawing on his military experience, the Head of State said that his seniors had taught soldiers a motto underscoring the importance of discipline, loyalty, and honor in carrying out duties: “discipline is my breath, loyalty is my soul, and honor is everything.”
“In the military, in the army, because I come from that environment, we have a motto taught to us by our seniors. The motto goes like this: discipline is my breath, loyalty is my soul, honor is my all in all,” he added.
The President further stated that the foremost loyalty is loyalty to the nation, state, and people. Therefore, the Head of State reminded the audience that loyalty is not merely easy to proclaim, but a value that requires steadfastness to uphold and preserve.
“The first loyalty is loyalty to our nation, state, and people. Loyalty is easy to say, but difficult to practice. Therefore, it is difficult to maintain the values of struggle,” he concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/MEP)
