Gov’t Launches Economic Stimulus Package to Maintain Purchasing Power

The Government Tuesday (02/10) launched the 2026 Economic Stimulus Package I, focusing on providing incentives for transportation sector to ensure the smoothness of people’s mobility during the Holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr holiday, and to maintain economic activities.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that the package will cover discount for public transportation ticket fares, with a budget allocation of Rp911.16 billion. In addition, a 30-percent discount will apply for train tickets purchased from March 14-29, 2026, targeting 1.2 million passengers.
“A 30-percent discount will apply for sea transportation tickets purchased from March 11 to April 5 2026, targeting 445,000 passengers. We’re offering a 100-percent discount on ferry transportation through a full waiver of port service fees from March 12 to 31, 2026, targeting around 945,000 vehicles and 2.4 million passengers,” he said.
In addition, the Government also offers a 17-18-percent discount from March 14-29, 2026 for domestic airline ticket fares, targeting 3.3 million passengers. These stimuli are expected to help the public access travel at more affordable costs during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period.
The Government will also implement flexible work arrangement (FWA) policy to anticipate travel congestion and to better manage people’s mobility.
“Work from anywhere (WFA) or flexible working arrangement (FWA) policy will be implemented for five days on March 16, 17, 25, 26, and 27, 2026,” Teddy said.
In a bid to strengthen people’s purchasing power, the Government will also provide food assistance for the public, consisting of 10 kilograms of rice and 2 liters of cooking oil per month, which will be given for two months.
“This assistance is targeted at 35.04 million beneficiary families from deciles 1–4, with an estimated budget allocation of Rp11.92 trillion,” he concluded.
Through the 2026 Economic Stimulus Package I, the Government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining economic stability, ensuring smooth people’s mobility, and providing adequate social protection during the Holy month of Ramadan and the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday.
