President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi at Akasaka Palace on Tuesday (03/31). The meeting was a key part of President Prabowo’s official visit to Japan.

In his opening remarks, President Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia and Japan are close friends and strategic partners based on trust and mutual respect for shared interests. He highlighted the vital role of both countries in maintaining global stability amid increasingly complex geopolitical dynamics.

“In the midst of the world’s highly complex geopolitical dynamics, Indonesia and Japan must be part of the stability and solution,” President Prabowo said.

President Prabowo further expressed confidence that the bilateral meeting will produce concrete steps to strengthen ties between the two countries, particularly in strategic sectors.

“I am confident that this meeting and my visit here will produce concrete steps that can be immediately followed up to strengthen relations between Japan and Indonesia,” the President remarked.

Meanwhile, PM Takaichi expressed appreciation for the progress in cooperation between Japan and Indonesia, especially in economic and security sectors. She reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to further strengthening its partnership with Indonesia.

She also expressed hopes for joint efforts to strengthen and advance the Indo-Pacific region through closer cooperation between the two nations.

“I am grateful for the progress in various forms of cooperation between Japan and Indonesia, particularly in economic and security sectors. I call on all of us to together strengthen and advance the Indo-Pacific region,” she stated.

This meeting not only reinforced bilateral relations but also sent a strong message to the world that Indonesia and Japan are ready to play strategic roles as anchors of stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
