President Prabowo Subianto delivered a briefing to participants of the President’s Program for Indonesia’s Future Leaders (P3MDI) Batch 1 of 2026 at the Jakarta Presidential Palace Compound, Tuesday (11/03). In his remarks, the President underscored the importance of developing a generation of leaders who are not only professionally capable but also has integrity, empathy, and a strong sense of national spirit.

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto explained that the program is part of the Government’s efforts to prepare high-quality human resources to support the implementation of various national strategic programs. Through the program, which is organized by University of the Republic of Indonesia (URI), approximately 400 university graduates were selected in the first batch through a selection process.

“We are preparing graduates who have good capacity and who are needed for various national strategic programs,” Brian told members of the media.

Brian said the participants will undergo intensive education and training before entering the workforce. The program consists of six months of training, followed by a two-month internship.

“The preparation of 400 people who will later be placed in state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and [involve in] various strategic programs is carried out by the URI. They will receive six months of training and a two-month internship,” he explained.

According to him, the President’s briefing was not only aimed at improving technical and professional competence. More importantly, the participants are expected to have strong character, understand the real condition of the people, and carry out their responsibilities with full integrity.

“President Prabowo provided guidance on how they can be truly prepared, have good integrity, good hearts, good capacity, and a strong sense of nationalism, as well as a good understanding of the conditions of the Indonesian people and the Indonesian nation,” Brian said.

The point reflects the importance of balancing professional competence with character building in preparing future leaders. Participants are expected not only to carry out their duties effectively but also to remain responsive to the needs of society and the interests of the nation.

Brian added that the President wants all participants to demonstrate optimal performance while upholding the values of honesty and responsibility once they enter the workforce.

“So that when they start working, they will have good performance and high integrity,” he said.

Through a combination of character education, leadership capacity building, and practical work experience, P3MDI Batch 1 of 2026 is expected to become one of the measures in preparing national talents that are competent and have integrity. The program also serves as part of efforts to strengthen the readiness of Indonesia’s younger generation to play a strategic role in national development, particularly through SOEs and the Government’s priority programs.
