President Prabowo Subianto Stresses Fair and Impartial Law Enforcement at Bhayangkara Day Commemoration
President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (07/01) attends the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration ceremony at the Mobile Brigade Corps (Korbrimob) training field in Cikeas, Bogor regency.
President Prabowo Subianto has underscored that Indonesia must firmly uphold the rule of law to ensure protection and a sense of security for all citizens.
“Our country is a state governed by law. Therefore, we must uphold the law. The law must be respected and cherished. The law must protect the people. The law must give honest citizens a sense of security. The law must be a refuge for those who are vulnerable,” the President said at the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration ceremony at the Mobile Brigade Corps (Korbrimob) training field in Cikeas, Bogor regency, on Wednesday (07/01).
The President also emphasized that the law must be enforced fairly for all elements of society and must never be used to serve the interests of a select few.
“The law must not be harsh on the weak and lenient on the powerful. It must not be turned into tool for those with money or used as an instrument for political revenge. The law must never serve the interests of any single group. There must be no criminalization, no abuse of authority, and no one placed above the law,” the President said.
The President further stressed that the people, especially those who are most vulnerable, must genuinely feel protected by the law.
“Those who seek truth and justice must be served. The innocent must feel safe. Those who are guilty must be held accountable for their actions,” he said.
On this occasion, the President also affirmed that Indonesia continues to build a democratic society that respects criticism. At the same time, he reminded everyone that the quality of democracy must be preserved.
“Democracy must not be hijacked by those with vast wealth. Our democracy must not be undermined by foreign interests. Differences of opinion must not give rise to hatred. We are all sons and daughters of the Indonesian nation, and our democracy must be rooted in the values of our own people,” he added.
The President also called on all elements of the nation to continue to prioritize unity and harmony. In this regard, the President called on the Indonesian National Police to serve as a mature guardian of democracy, ensuring that every citizen can express their views peacefully, while at the same time upholding the law and maintaining public order.
