President Prabowo Pushes for Rapid School Revitalization, Construction of Integrated Schools

President Prabowo Subianto, on Thursday (06/10), called in Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti to the Merdeka Palace to discuss ways to accelerate the implementation of priority programs in the education sector, including school revitalization and construction of Integrated National Schools.
Regarding school revitalization, the Minister reported that its implementation in 2025 has achieved 100 percent completion rate and reached 16,167 education units across the country. Meanwhile in 2026, the Government has allocated a Rp14 trillion budget approved by the House of Representatives to revitalize 11,744 education units alongside an additional 60,000 units. This year, the Government aims to revitalize a total of 71,744 education units spanning all levels from kindergarten to senior high school.
“We would also like to note that this revitalization program is not only about improving the education quality. According to our research, it also has an economic impact as the system is self-managed, with construction carried out directly by each educational institution. We estimate that this program will generate local jobs, as these 71,744 projects will employ approximately 1.1 million people over a period of 3 to 8 months,” the Minister said.
In addition, the Minister stated that the program received a positive reception from the public, especially in frontier, outermost, and remote (3T) regions. He noted that many schools that had not seen any infrastructure improvements for decades can now enjoy more proper educational facilities.
“We have visited various regions, especially the 3T areas. The people there are very grateful. Although the law stipulates that the responsibility for infrastructure development lies with local governments, due to the President’s commitment to improving the quality of education, we have revitalized both public and private school across Indonesia,” he said.
In addition to school revitalization, the Minister also reported on the progress of the Integrated National Schools program, which is part of the Government’s efforts to build an excellent educational ecosystem. He stated that this program is designed as non-boarding schools of excellence to provide quality educational services based on integrated standards.
“These are top-tier non-boarding schools. This year, we plan to build 100 National Integrated Schools, and we have already shortlisted 36 proposals. We will begin construction this year, God willing, five of them will be opened in centers owned by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, one will be in the IKN (Nusantara capital), and the remaining nine will be newly built in the selected regions,” he concluded.
By accelerating the revitalization of more than 71,000 schools and the construction of National Integrated Schools, President Prabowo emphasized that the nation’s greatest investment is in education. The Government is committed to ensuring that every Indonesian child, from urban centers to the most remote corners of the country, has equal opportunities to learn in a decent, modern, and high-quality environment.
