President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the Government must possess the courage and firmness to face various challenges in safeguarding national interests. According to the Head of State, the mandate entrusted by the people carries a profound responsibility to protect the nation’s wealth from detrimental practices.
“We received a mandate from the people in a situation and at a time that forces us to face challenges and difficulties bravely. We can no longer address them with excessive naivety or by overly striving to please others. We are now compelled to choose to face difficulties and realities [in order to] save the wealth of the nation and the Indonesian people,” the President stated in his introductory remarks at the Plenary Cabinet Meeting held at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/21).
In carrying out this mandate, President Prabowo further emphasized the importance of a spirit of devotion and shared responsibility across all ranks of the Red-and-White Cabinet. The Head of State also expressed his appreciation to the entire Red-and-White Cabinet for working together over the past two years of his administration.
“[Your presence] here is a historical call. You are called to serve your country, the nation, and the people of Indonesia. You already understand and realize that serving in Government is truly a sacrifice,” he noted.
“I am proud to be your leader. I am proud to be your President. I am proud to have led this Government, because in two years we have [achieved] tangible results,” he continued.
In his introductory remarks, the Head of State also highlighted the global situation, which is marked by various crises, geopolitical conflicts, and economic competition among major world powers. He noted that these conditions also affect Indonesia, given the increasingly integrated and interdependent nature of [international] relations.
“We are in a global condition characterized by the competition for world hegemony among major powers. This [situation] will inevitably affect all countries, since our world has become so integrated and mutually dependent on one another,” he added.
In addition to geopolitical challenges, Indonesia faced the impacts of climate change and the potential for natural disasters due to its geographical location along the Ring of Fire. Nevertheless, President Prabowo reminded [everyone] that these challenges also hold immense potential for Indonesia if managed optimally.
“Although we are located along the Ring of Fire, [this positioning] also yields fertile soil and valuable minerals, [which is one] of our national strengths,” he concluded.
The first two years [of his tenure as President] have served as a foundation to continue delivering real work. Amid a world full of uncertainty, President Prabowo reiterated that courage, unity, and devotion are the primary strengths to guide Indonesia toward a more independent, resilient, and prosperous future.
