President Prabowo Subianto, Wednesday (07/23), officially launched the theme and logo for the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence, marking the start of a series of events to commemorate the historic milestone.

On that occasion, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi reported that the logo and theme were decided after an extensive selection process involving multiple stakeholders.

“The logo selection process was initiated by the Ministry of Creative Economy in collaboration with the Indonesian Graphic Designers Association (ADGI) who had made great effort to produce several design alternatives, the winner of which was then selected directly by the President,” Minister Prasetyo said.

In a separate statement, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya expressed his appreciation for the Ministry’s long-standing collaboration with ADGI.

Minister of Creative Economy expressed hope that this partnership would continue to inspire the spirit of struggle and reflect the values of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Anniversary.

“We’ve worked with ADGI for 10 years, starting from the era of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, which was then transformed into the Creative Economy Agency (BEKRAF) and now into the Ministry of Creative Economy. It took a fairly long process, starting from the announcement for the design competition which attracted 245 submissions. Then the top five were selected, and alhamdulillah [praise be to God], the President made his final choice based on the philosophy shared by both the designers and himself,” the Minister said.

The selected logo was designed by Indonesian graphic designer Bram Patria Yoshugi, who successfully captured the theme of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence: “United and Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia.”

Bram explained that the design of the numbers 8 and 0 symbolizes unity and sovereignty, while the flowing lines represent people’s prosperity, together illustrating a vision of a forward-looking, progressive Indonesia.

“We’re entering a new era, the 80s. So, we wanted to present something fresh, something with renewed spirit. But at the same time, the design remains bold, and proudly represents Indonesia as a whole,” Bram said. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information (BPMI) of Presidential Secretariat) (RIF/TM)
