President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated the new building for Maternal and Child Health Service at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar city, Bali province, Monday (09/02). The new facility that is completed with high-tech and modern devices is expected to be able to reduce mother and child mortality rates.

“Entering the new building of Ngoerah Hospital felt like stepping into a five-star hotel. The waiting room is very nice, the furniture is also very nice, and they showed me really modern, high-tech, and digital devices and equipment. It will help to lessen mother and child mortality rates, especially in Bali province, and generally in Indonesia,” President Jokowi said.

He explained that the healthcare facility was built with a quite large budget of Rp233 billion. Furthermore, an additional budget of Rp241 billion was allocated for medical devices procurement, and Rp28 billion for human resources.

“However, it is fine to spend Rp233 billion plus Rp241 billion for devices as long as the people, especially mothers and children, can get good health services. Plus, Rp28 billion for human resources, it is also important,” he said.

Furthermore, President Jokowi showed appreciation for all operational preparation of Ngoerah Hospital including additional facilities to improve healthcare services for the people.

“I think equipment training and any other digital training is very nice. Also, the addition of 32 beds will improve healthcare services for our people,” he stated. (TGH/ABD) (AW/MMB)
