President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday (05/25) welcomed Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Li Qiang, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

In his opening remarks of bilateral meeting, President Prabowo extended a warm welcome to Premier Li Qiang and his delegation, emphasizing the importance of the visit in maintaining and strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between Indonesia and China.

“I would once again express my gratitude for the great honor bestowed upon us by Your Excellency’s visit to the Merdeka Palace,” President Prabowo said.

The President emphasized that the visit marked a strengthening bond between the two nations and the peoples. He noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of Indonesia–China diplomatic relations as well as the 70th anniversary of the historic Asian-African Conference.

“This visit is very important in our view because Your Excellency’s presence reaffirms the strong and close friendship between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Indonesia, and more importantly, between the Chinese people and the Indonesian people,” President Prabowo said.

President Prabowo reiterated the Indonesian government’s determination to continuously enhance Indonesia–China relations—not only for mutual bilateral interests but also for regional stability and prosperity.

“I reaffirm our commitment to strengthening this partnership with the People’s Republic of China and with the Chinese people. We believe that this relationship will bring benefits not only to our two countries but to the entire Asian region, and possibly to the world,” he stated.

In response, Premier Li Qiang expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended by the Indonesian government and people. He highlighted the longstanding history of cooperation and solidarity between the two nations, which has continued to develop.

“As Your Excellency mentioned earlier, over these 75 years, both countries—Indonesia and China—have supported each other during significant moments, such as during the process of gaining independence, as well as in dealing with the tsunami and the Covid-19 pandemic. Our friendship has become even stronger,” Premier Li stated.

Premier Li further addressed the increasingly complex global challenges and emphasized China’s readiness to continue working closely with Indonesia to address these dynamics. He outlined the pillars of cooperation that will serve as the foundation for future relations between the two countries.

“China is ready to work together with Indonesia to fulfill the mission and vision we share since the establishment of our diplomatic ties, to strengthen the tradition of friendship between the two nations, deepen collaboration and unity, solidify a cooperation framework built on five pillars, jointly tackle various risks and challenges, promote mutual development, and deliver greater prosperity to the peoples of both nations,” the Premier remarked.
