President Prabowo Subianto Tuesday (10/14) led a limited cabinet meeting with a number of ministers immediately after returning home from his official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt. The meeting took place at the waiting room of the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base and discussed the latest strategic issues in Indonesia, including the result of World Cup’s qualifiers.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi told the media that Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir has reported to the President on the result of Indonesia’s final match at the World Cup’s qualifiers and expressed his deep regret for failing to take the national team to secure a place in the 2026 World Cup.
“The President, of course, personally feels disappointed that we haven’t managed to qualify yet. However, as the Head of State and the Head of Government, he encourages us to keep striving. We still have two major events ahead of us, the 2027 Asian Cup and the 2028 Olympics,” Prasetyo Hadi said.
The limited meeting also discussed investment sector as Minister of Investment and Downstream/ Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani told the President on the realization of national investment including the patriot bond and waste management project using Dananatara financial scheme.
He added that waste-to-energy project has now reached the construction preparation stage at 10 initial locations, including Bantar Gebang landfill site. According to him, the Government has identified a financing scheme involving Danantara to accelerate sustainable waste management.
“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), this year, with Danantara now on board, we’ve managed to find a scheme to address the waste problem, particularly in 34 regencies and cities. Ten sites are ready to begin construction, including Bantar Gebang. That’s what Mr. Rosan, the Minister of Investment, reported,” he added.
In addition, President Prabowo also received report from Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto on the strategy to enhance human resources through science and technology.
“The President has assigned him the task of developing our human resources in preparation for downstream industrialization and to ensure readiness for staffing several major government programs, including in the plantation and maritime sectors, which clearly require skilled human capital.
Therefore, the President has given a special mandate to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to prepare the necessary human resources,” he concluded.
