President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (06/25) inaugurated Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Bali International Hospital in Denpasar, Bali province.

“I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation to all parties involved in pioneering the development of the SEZ dedicated to health services. I believe this marks a significant breakthrough, perhaps the first of its kind in our Republic,” President Prabowo said during his remarks at the Bali Beach Convention Center.

According to the President, the Sanur SEZ has been developed into an integrated, world-class health and tourism destination that aims to reduce the number of Indonesians seeking medical treatment abroad, contributing to substantial foreign exchange outflows.

“As previously mentioned, there are numerous Indonesian citizens traveling overseas for medical care, resulting in a large drain on our foreign exchange. With this initiative, we aim to offer healthcare services on par with the best in the world,” he added.

President Prabowo also extended special appreciation to international partners who contributed to the project.

“To our friends from abroad, thank you once again for your support and participation. This Special Economic Zone for Medical and Health Services is a source of national pride, and we are truly grateful for your involvement,” he remarked.

For the record, the Sanur SEZ is projected to generate significant economic impact by 2045, including the creation of 18,375 employments and it can save up to Rp86 trillion in foreign exchange as well as generate up to Rp19.6 trillion in earnings.

The infrastructure in the Sanur SEZ includes world-class medical facilities, five-star hotels, Bali’s largest convention center with a 5,000-person capacity, a 4.9-hectare ethnobotanical garden featuring over 380 types of medicinal plants, as well as MSME hubs and commercial zones for local entrepreneurs.
