President Prabowo Subianto leads the groundbreaking ceremony of 10 Indonesian National Police (Polri) Food Security Warehouses and 166 nutrition fulfillment service unit (SPPG) in Tuban regency, East Java province, on Saturday (05/16).

President Prabowo Subianto Saturday (16/05) stated that the Government will continue to strengthen the national food security foundation through various strategic measures, including by establishing Indonesian National Police (Polri) Food Security Warehouses and nutrition fulfillment service unit (SPPG) in the regions.

The statement was made by the President at the groundbreaking ceremony of 10 Indonesian National Police (Polri) Food Security Warehouses and 166 nutrition fulfillment service unit (SPPG) in Tuban regency, East Java province.

After the inauguration, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, who accompanied the President, said that this event is part of the Government’s efforts to maintain national food security and self-sufficiency.

According to the Minister, the Government is now focused not only on sustaining its achievement of rice self-sufficiency but also on strengthening corn production and other strategic food commodities.

He also praised Indonesian farmers for their contribution in maintaining national food availability, noting that the success of food self-sufficiency is the result of joint efforts between the Government and farmers across the country.

“Of course, we would like to express our appreciation and gratitude not only to Minister of Agriculture, but also to all farmers in Indonesia, because their hard work has enabled us to achieve food self-sufficiency,” he said.

On that occasion, the Minister also highlighted another strategic achievement in the national food sector: government rice reserves have now reached 5.3 million tons stored in the warehouses owned by the State Logistics Agency (Bulog).

He also noted that this is a historic milestone, ensuring that the national food supply remains safe and under control.

Echoing a similar sentiment, Minister of Agriculture said that the Government will continue to support the agricultural sector by ensuring adequate fertilizer supplies for the farmers.

He added that the country’s fertilizer stock is currently more than sufficient, and that Indonesia has even begun exporting fertilizer to several countries.

“Our fertilizer supply is more than enough. In fact, we have recently exported to Australia, the Philippines, Brazil, and India. Even the Australian Minister of Agriculture personally thanked us four times yesterday,” the Minister said, adding that domestic fertilizer prices have fallen by around 20 percent, a development expected to further support the productivity of Indonesian farmers.
