President Prabowo Inaugurates New Tanah Abang Station Jakarta

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the New Tanah Abang Station on Tuesday (04/11) after riding the KRL Commuter Line from Manggarai Station to the New Tanah Abang Station. Before the inauguration, the President inspected directly the facilities around the station and platform areas, as well as greeted passengers who were using the commuter line.
On his remarks, the President conveyed his assessment that the building of the New Tanah Abang Station was part of the Government’s commitments to continue strengthening intermodal connectivity in Jakarta. He affirmed that safe, comfortable, and affordable public transportation is the right of all citizens and a fundamental foundation for enhancing productivity and promoting equitable economic growth nationwide.
“Railways and all forms of mass transportation, mass transit systems are integral parts of modern society — highly strategic and vitally important. I have the reports that PT KAI has served 486 passengers for a year,” the President said.
On his reports to the President, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwaghandi said that the New Tanah Abang Station was one of the biggest stations with the highest intensity in Jabodetabek area. He further explained that the New Station was expected to be the starting point of the railway transformation towards improved public service.
“We would like to conveyed our reports that the operation of the New Tanah Abang Station gradually began in June 2025, serving five KRL Commuter Line routes: Kampung Bandan, Rangkasbitung, Duri, Tangerang, Manggarai–Bogor, and Cikarang. The passenger capacity of the New Tanah Abang Station increases from approximately 141,000 to around 380,000 passengers in total,” the Minister reported.
The station’s design is futuristic with urban architectural touch. It is also one of PT KAI’s major revitalization projects that aligns with the Government’s vision to strengthen urban connectivity. The completion of the New Tanah Abang Station is expected to improve daily mobility for Jakarta residents and commuters, especially for the thousands of KRL Commuter Line and public transport users who rely on this major hub.
