President Prabowo Pays Final Tribute to Three Fallen Indonesian Peacekeepers

President Prabowo Subianto paid his final respects to three Indonesian peacekeeping personnel who lost their lives while serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The tribute ceremony was held at the lying-in-state area in the central hall of the VIP Terminal, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten province, on Saturday (04/04).

With profound respect, the President honored the three fallen heroes: the late Major Infantry (posthumous) Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, Chief Sergeant (posthumous) Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Second Corporal (posthumous) Farizal Rhomadon. The ceremony proceeded solemnly, accompanied by prayers for the soldiers who gave their lives in the noble mission of safeguarding global peace.

President Prabowo personally approached the bereaved families to offer his support. He extended his deepest condolences and expressed his highest appreciation for the dedication and service of the late personnel.

The Head of State then paid a final tribute to the three soldiers before their remains were carried to the venue for a lying-in-state ceremony. The ceremony was scheduled to take place prior to the repatriation of the bodies to their respective hometowns for burial.

The remains of the three Indonesian peacekeepers arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 17:20 Western Indonesian Time. Previously, on Thursday (04/02), a farewell and final honors ceremony led by the UNIFIL Force Commander were conducted at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon.

Also present at the ceremony were Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Vice Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) Gen. Agus Subiyanto, Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Chiefs of Staff of the TNI.

In the moment of solemnity, the nation was reminded that world peace does not come without sacrifice. The three Indonesian soldiers fulfilled their highest noble duty of military service, devoting themselves for the sake of humanity.
