President Prabowo Subianto, on Friday (8/14), arrived at the Nusantara Building of the MPR/DPR/DPD RI in Jakarta to deliver the state of the nation address during the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the House of Regional Representatives (DPD RI).

The President arrived at approximately 08:10 a.m. local time and was personally welcomed by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, Speaker of the MPR RI Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of the DPR RI Puan Maharani, and Speaker of the DPD RI Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin.

The proceedings began with the singing of the national anthem, ‘Indonesia Raya’. Afterward, the Speaker of the MPR RI led a moment of silence to honor the contributions of the nation’s heroes.

Subsequently, the Speaker of the MPR RI officially opened the Annual Session of the MPR RI and delivered the opening remarks. The agenda then proceeded with the address for the Joint Session of the DPR RI and the DPD RI, delivered by Speaker of the DPD RI Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin.

In his address, Speaker of the MPR RI Ahmad Muzani emphasized that the MPR RI Annual Session is not merely a constitutional agenda, but also serves as a moment to reaffirm the shared commitment to upholding unity and the continuity of the nation and state.

“In this esteemed forum, we are not simply attending a constitutional ceremony. We are reaffirming our pledge to our beloved Republic,” the Speaker of the MPR RI stated.

He said further that the pledge represents a commitment to preserve the peace bequeathed by the nation’s founders and to ensure that political differences do not become a cause for fracturing brotherhood and national unity.

“A pledge that we will continue to safeguard the independence inherited from the nation’s founders. A pledge that political differences will not divide our brotherhood and national unity,” he said.

Meanwhile, in his address, Speaker of the DPD RI Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin emphasized that Indonesia’s independence was born from the consensus and unity of diverse regions, languages, and ethnic groups, united by a single determination to build an independent, united, and sovereign Indonesia.

“From this Joint Session chamber, within this building steeped in history, we fulfill the determination with a more specific conviction: strong regions, a sovereign Indonesia,” he added.

Following the series of the session’s introductory addresses, President Prabowo delivered the state of the nation address during the 2026 Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and the DPD RI. In his address, the President recalled the moment when he took his oath of office as President of the Republic of Indonesia on October 20, 2024, before the Assembly, the entire Indonesian people, and God Almighty.

“This morning, I stand once again in this honorable hall, the very same hall where I took my oath as President of the Republic of Indonesia, and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia,” the President said.

President Prabowo then reaffirmed the oath he had taken to lead the state and nation with sincerity and honesty, while prioritizing the interests of all Indonesian people.

“On that day, October 20, 2024, before the honorable Assembly, before the entire Indonesian people, and most importantly before God Almighty, I swore to lead the state and nation with sincerity and honesty, and to prioritize the interests of all Indonesian people,” the President stated firmly.

The Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and the DPD RI were also attended by the 7th President Joko Widodo, the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla, the 11th Vice President Boediono, and the 13th Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.
