President Prabowo Subianto urged Indonesia’s younger generation to have the courage to choose the path of uprightness, even though it is full of challenges and hardships.

“Sometimes, when we have good intentions, do something right, and uphold truth, justice, and honesty, we will face great challenges,” President Prabowo said during a speech at the Open Senate Session for the inauguration of new undergraduate and graduate students for the 2025/2026 academic year, as well as the graduation ceremony and anniversary of the Indonesian National University (UKRI) in Bandung, West Java province, Saturday (10/08).

The Head of State also reflected on his long journey in politics, describing it as the experience full of learning process which teaches him to be more alert to any threats against the integrity of the nation.

“Now I can quickly detect, sense, and conclude when I encounter deception, or efforts to undermine, obstruct, or damage the nation,” the President said, adding that staying on the right path and holding on to integrity is the course that graduates must always choose. “To all of you, youth of the nation, always look to your future with courage but also with caution. Keep yourselves alert, don’t get easily deceived,” he emphasized.

On that occasion, the President also underscored the importance of vigilance and wisdom in responding to rapid technological advancements and reminded everyone to be more thoughtful and critical of the validity of any information they find on social media.

“We must not be afraid of technology. Even though we benefit greatly from it, we must also remain cautious,” President Prabowo remarked.

The spirit conveyed by the President reflects the values of resilience that must be instilled in the Indonesian youth. Amid changing times and life’s many tests, Indonesian youth are expected not to give up easily. A fighting spirit must be preserved—when they fall, they must rise again, stand tall, and move forward with stronger steps toward a better future. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (GWH/TM)
