President Prabowo Pays State Visit to Brunei, Reaffirming Strategic Bilateral Relations

President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (05/14) received a welcoming ceremony from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah upon arrival at Nurul Iman Palace in the Bruneian capital of Bandar Seri Begawan.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah welcomed the President once he arrived at the main yard of Nurul Iman Palace. Afterward, the national anthems of Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia were reverberated and the 21-gun salute was performed.

The two leaders then conducted an inspection of the ranks of honor, marking an official sign of respect from the host country to the state guest.

After that, the President and His Majesty officially introduced their delegates. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah introduced members of the Royal Family and the cabinet members of the Kingdom of Brunei. The Grand Chamberlain then introduced members of the parliament and high-ranking officials of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, followed by the Bruneian Head of Protocols introducing heads of foreign representatives in the country.

Meanwhile, President Prabowo introduced the Indonesian delegates accompanying him during the state visit, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Community Development Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Migrant Workers Protection Abdul Kadir Karding, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and the Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Achmad Ubaedillah.

Following the welcoming ceremony, the President and his delegates had a courtesy call with His Majesty and the Royal Family, which took place in a friendly and warm atmosphere, reflecting the two countries’ strong relations.

After the courtesy call, the two leaders convened a bilateral meeting to discuss strategic measures to reinforce multisectoral cooperation. The visit was concluded by a state luncheon hosted by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

The state visit reaffirmed Indonesia’s and Brunei’s commitment to continue strengthening mutually beneficial partnerships and their position as kindred countries with an important role in the Southeast Asian region. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/MUR)
