President Prabowo Subianto called on BRICS member countries to build strong and fair economies that can deliver prosperity for the people.

The statement was made by the President during his speech at the 2026 BRICS Summit, adopting a theme “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth”, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, India, on Sunday (09/13).

“Our resilience must be delivering prosperity for our people, so we must be able to turn our vulnerabilities into opportunities, our weakness into strength,” he said.

According to the President, Indonesia truly understands the reality. As an archipelagic nation that seated in the most active ring of rife, Indonesia lives daily with rising sea levels, extreme weather, and active volcanoes. Yet, Indonesia’s lands and seas hold abundant resources of what the future will be built upon such as critical minerals, rare earth, renewable resources for clean energies.

He firmly said that BRICS also holds significant share of the world’s critical minerals and energy resources that will help building the green century.

“We possess everything on which the green century will be built. This is why when disaster strikes, we must see that it is more than a disaster. We must see the close connection between climate change resilience and national development,” he added.

On that occasion, President Prabowo also underscored that Indonesia and other BRICS members and many in the global south face similar intertwined issues. Therefore, he called on BRICS members to join hands in facing these challenges collectively, by bringing together an enormous pool of resources, productive capacity, technological capabilities, and markets.

“Put them together and BRICS can make a real and vital differences for the world. Therefore, the first step is to recognize the value of what we have and use these strengths to help one another,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/MMB)
