President Prabowo Arrives in Seoul, Begins State Visit to Republic of Korea

President Prabowo Subianto arrives at Seongnam Military Air Base in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, on Tuesday (3/31).

President Prabowo Subianto, on Tuesday (3/31), arrived in Seoul, the Republic of Korea (ROK) for a state visit. The Garuda Indonesia-1 airplane carrying President Prabowo landed at Seongnam Military Air Base at approximately 7:15 PM local time.

Upon arrival in Seoul, the President was officially welcomed with an honorary ceremony. At the foot of the airplane, the Head of State received a salute from a 20-person honor guard. The welcoming ceremony was enlivened by a 21-gun salute as a sign of the state’s respect.

Following the ceremony, President Prabowo was welcomed by Minister of Climate, Energy, and Environment of the ROK, Kim Sungwhan; Ambassador-designate of the ROK to Indonesia, Yoon Soongu; and Chief of State Protocol of the ROK, Kim Tae-jin. The President was also welcomed by Indonesian high officials, namely Indonesian Ambassador to the ROK, Cecep Herawan, and Indonesian Defense Attaché in Seoul, Air Force Colonel Muhammad Arif.

During his visit in Seoul, President Prabowo is scheduled to undertake a series of state visits, including a welcoming ceremony by the President of the ROK at the Blue House.

This visit is expected to further strengthen the friendship and strategic partnership between Indonesia and the ROK, as well as to create broader and mutually beneficial opportunities in the future.

Previously, President Prabowo and his entourage departed from Haneda Airport, in Tokyo, Japan, at 5:15 PM local time after completing a series of official visits, including a state call with Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and a meeting with Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
