President Prabowo Subianto performs the Eid al-Adha prayer at Wisma Indonesia in Paris, France, on 10 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 Hijri, which fell on Wednesday, (05/27). The President’s participation in the congregational prayer was warmly welcomed by the Indonesian citizens and diaspora in France.

Accompanied by the recitation of takbir, at around 8.40 a.m. local time, President Prabowo arrived at Wisma Indonesia and proceeded to the prayer row to join the congregation in reciting takbir before participating in the Eid prayer. The prayer was solemnly conducted and attended by the Indonesian citizens and diaspora who had gathered at Wisma Indonesia since early morning.

The Eid prayer was led by the imam and khatib Fakhruddin Arrozi, a master’s graduate of the International Islamic University in Islamabad, Pakistan, and currently serves as a lecturer at Muhammadiyah University of Lamongan.

In his preaching, Fakhruddin conveyed that Eid al-Adha is a holiday that embodies both divine and humanitarian elements. He reminded the congregation that the act of sacrifice is not merely a symbol of obedience to Allah, but also a call to share, preserve Islamic identity, strengthen family bonds, and reinforce unity, especially for Muslims living as a diaspora in foreign countries.

“We are not told to sacrifice our children as Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him, did, but we are told to sacrifice our egos to obey the commands of Allah,” Fakhruddin said.

After performing the prayer, President Prabowo met with Indonesian citizens and diaspora. In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the President greeted and shook hands with the congregants before joining them for a meal together.

This moment provided an opportunity for the President to build closer ties with the Indonesian community abroad while fostering a sense of togetherness in celebrating Eid al-Adha abroad. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/AW)
