President Prabowo Subianto, Friday (08/28), made an unannounced visit to a relocation housing site in the Kramat Raya area of Senen district, Central Jakarta, to check on the living conditions of residents who previously lived in shacks along the Senen railway tracks.

The impromptu visit was made following official state duties at the Merdeka Palace. Upon his arrival, residents greeted the President and expressed appreciation for their new housing arrangements.

“Thank you very much, Pak. I can live here now,” one resident said to him.

President Prabowo also inspected the housing’s available facilities to ensure that all basic facilities, including the water system, function properly.

Former railway-side residents highlighted the shift in living conditions, noting improved security and comfort compared to their previous informal settlements.

Nuriah, a former resident of the Senen railway slum, pointed out the contrast in her current living situation.

“Previously, I lived along the Senen railway tracks. Since moving here, it has been safe and comfortable. Thank God, it has helped me greatly,” she said.

Echoing a similar sentiment, Siti Nurhalimah expressed gratitude for her new home.

“I used to live along the railway tracks. Now, alhamdulillah, I live here. Alhamdulillah, oh Allah. Bapak President, PT KAI (state-owned railway company), thank you so much,” she said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/AW)
