Ambassadors to Indonesia Celebrate the Nation’s 81st Independence Day at Merdeka Palace
Several ambassadors to Indonesia attended the commemoration ceremony for Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Monday (8/17).
The occasion provided an opportunity for them to extend their congratulations to Indonesia, reflect on its 81 years of independence, and express their hopes for stronger bilateral relations.
Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Japan Myochin Mitsuru congratulated Indonesia on its 81st Independence Day, expressed appreciation for the strong bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Japan across various sectors, and hoped for stronger relations.
“My sincere congratulations to Indonesia on its 81st Independence Day. Indonesia and Japan have long shared close historical, economic, and political ties. I therefore reaffirm my strong hope for the continued strengthening of relations between our two countries,” said Myochin.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Indonesia Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri conveyed congratulations from the Government and the people of Pakistan. He described Indonesia as an important country for Pakistan and said the two nations’ relations had grown beyond friendship into one of brotherhood.
“Best wishes from the Government and people of Pakistan to the Government and the people of Indonesia,” said Zahid.
Zahid also praised Indonesia’s progress in the social and economic sectors. In particular, he expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s vision to promote economic growth as a means of improving public welfare.
“I believe Indonesia has made remarkable progress in both social and economic development. In particular, I would like to highlight President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership. I am impressed by his vision for economic development, and importantly, for ensuring the welfare of the people,” he said.
Egyptian Ambassador to Indonesia Yasser Hassan Farag Elshemy also underscored the significance of Indonesia’s Independence Day for Egypt. He recalled that Egypt was the first country to recognize Indonesia as an independent and sovereign nation in 1945, and noted that the two countries have since developed close cooperation across various sectors.
“We are very proud to have been the first country to recognize Indonesia’s independence in 1945. Since then, we have pursued shared goals in various sectors, including politics, the economy, culture, and development. Today, we continue to strengthen our relations and take them to new heights,” said Yasser.
According to him, Indonesia has made significant progress over its 81 years of independence. He also praised the harmony among its people, as well as the richness of Indonesia’s history and culture, and expressed hope that the country would continue to achieve greater progress in the future.
“One of Indonesia’s greatest strengths is the harmony among its people and the richness of its culture. Indonesians deeply appreciate and take pride in their long history, heritage and cuisine,” he said.
Ambassador of the Netherlands to Indonesia Marc Gerritsen also congratulated Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day. Marc valued the 81 years of Indonesia’s journey as an achievement that should be proud of, and reaffirmed the Netherlands’ commitment to continue as Indonesia’s partner.
