President Prabowo Subianto has once again underscored that Indonesia still faces immense challenges, especially in poverty alleviation and improvement of people’s welfare.

According to the President, although Indonesia boasts vast natural resources, many people still live in poverty. Therefore, he added that this challenge must be addressed truthfully and together.

“We must recognize that we’re still facing difficulties. We’re still confronting challenges and shortcomings. We are aware that many of our people continue to experience hardships,” the President said in his briefing at the 2026 National Coordination Meeting of the Central and Regional Governments at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor regency, West Java province, on Monday (02/02).

To that end, the President called on all elements of the nation, regardless of political background, class, or interests, to unite and work together to alleviate poverty in the country.

This challenge, he said, must be confronted with strong determination and concrete actions, rather than with doubt and a lack of perseverance.

“We must strive to fight together – All elements, all levels, all backgrounds, all political parties. We must stand united and fight to alleviate poverty in Indonesia. We must not give up, and we must not be afraid of difficulties,” the President said.

The Head of State also publicly reminded leaders at all levels of their role and responsibilities, highlighting that those in leadership and elite positions across sectors have a moral obligation to safeguard and manage the nation’s wealth so that it is optimally used for the benefit of the people.

“Now, I call on all of us, as leaders, to strengthen our resolve from this moment on and to reform ourselves, our institutions, our surroundings, and our circles. Let us commit to safeguarding, protecting, and managing our natural resources for the greatest benefit of our people,” the President said.

The President also underscored the importance of national unity and rejected hostile attitudes arising from political differences. He affirmed that competition is natural in a democracy, but once the political process concludes, all parties must reunite to serve the people.

“Winning and losing are normal, as we remain devoted to the nation and the Indonesian people,” he said.

The President also reaffirmed his commitment to governing inclusively and fairly, regardless of regional political background or election results.

“My duty, my obligation, is to all the people of Indonesia,” the President said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/EP)
