President Prabowo Receives Progress Report on Implementation of Mandatory B50 Biodiesel, Bioethanol Programs

President Prabowo Subianto received a progress report on the implementation of the Mandatory B50 Program (the mandatory use of fuel oil composed of 50 percent biodiesel) and the infrastructure readiness to support the implementation of the mandatory bioethanol program from the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) (a state-owned oil and gas company), Simon A. Mantiri, in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday (8/09).

During the meeting, Simon reported the progress of the implementation of the B50 program which was launched by President Prabowo in July. The program is part of the Government’s efforts to strengthen national energy independence and resilience by increasing the use of domestic energy resources.

“Pertamina’s President Director reported on the progress of the implementation of the Mandatory B50 Program, which was launched by President Prabowo in July, as well as infrastructure readiness to support the implementation of the mandatory bioethanol program,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in a written statement.

In addition to discussing the national energy resilience agenda, the President also gave directives on improving the governance of state-owned enterprises (SOEs). The President ordered the cutting out of organizational layers, as well as the reduction of the number of subsidiaries and sub-subsidiaries within Pertamina, PLN (a state-owned electricity company), and other SOEs.

“During the meeting, President Prabowo also ordered the cutting out of organizational layers and the reduction of the number of subsidiaries and sub-subsidiaries within Pertamina, PLN, and other SOEs,” said the Cabinet Secretary.

The streamlining of these corporate structures is intended to create more agile and productive SOEs. With shorter bureaucratic chains, decision-making processes are expected to become faster while maintaining the efficiency of state-owned enterprises.

“The streamlining is intended to accelerate decision-making, increase productivity, and maintain the efficiency of all SOEs,” said the Cabinet Secretary.

The meeting underscored two major priorities that President Prabowo continues to advance: building energy independence by harnessing the nation’s domestic resources, and ensuring that SOEs are managed with greater effectiveness and efficiency and oriented toward the interests of the state and the people.
