President Prabowo Welcomes King Abdullah II of Jordan at Merdeka Palace

President Prabowo Subianto welcomed King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Friday (11/14) for a state visit.

President Prabowo and the King of Jordan arrived at the palace grounds around 16:50 Western Indonesian time, having traveled from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in the same vehicle. The entourage entered the National Monument area escorted by a troop of 17 Honda Goldwing motorists, 80 cavalrymen in front formation, and 40 cavalrymen in back formation.

The occasion was enlivened by 2,000 students lined up along the road to the palace, waving the flags of Indonesia and the Kingdom of Jordan. Upon arrival at the palace grounds, the two leaders were welcomed by the guard of honor.

The official welcoming ceremony began with the reverberation of the Jordanian and Indonesian national anthems, followed by a 21-gun salute as a sign of respect for the visit of a friendly country’s Head of State.

Afterward, the two leaders conducted an inspection of the ranks of honor before introducing their delegates.

The Indonesian delegates include Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Rosan Roeslani, Cabinet Secretariat Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Ade Padmo Sarwono.

Following the introduction session, President Prabowo and King Abdullah II headed to the credential room together for a joint photo session and guest book signing. The event continued with a tête-à-tête between the two leaders at the President’s office.

After the tête-à-tête, the President and the King held a bilateral meeting in the palace’s oval room with their delegates. The state visit ended with a dinner banquet at the State Palace. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/LW)
