President Prabowo Subianto has concluded his short two-day visit to the Russian Federation and France. The visit focused on strengthening bilateral relations and strategic direction of cooperation between the two countries.

“Mr. President has just arrived from a short two-day visit to two superpowers, two countries with veto power, during which he met with the Russian President and the French President,” Cabinet Secretary said in a statement at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (4/16).

During the meeting with President Putin, the two leaders agreed to encourage increased long-term cooperation in the energy sector. This is one of the main priorities in efforts to strengthen national energy security, while also opening up opportunities for strategic collaboration that gives mutual benefit to both countries.

“The main point [of the meeting] is to increase long-term cooperation in the energy sector. The President then specifically assigned the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to meet with President Putin’s special envoy and the Russian Minister of Energy,” he said.
