President Prabowo Subianto expressed optimism at the launch of a 100-gigawatt-peak (GWP) solar power plant, marking a strategic milestone for national energy self-sufficiency.

“I do not want to say much, but the point is, through a 100 GWP solar power plant, we can stand tall. We will not be afraid of any development in any part of the world,” the President said in his remarks delivered at Jembrana regency, Bali province, on Tuesday (08/25).

With this solar panel plant added to other energy sources, the President showed confidence that Indonesia will achieve national energy self-sufficiency.

“With the geothermal that we own, with the gas sources that we found, with the oil lifting that must keep rising, we shall no longer import even one barrel of oil. We shall no longer import. Inshaallah, in the shortest possible time, we will no longer import even one LPG gas cylinder,” he continued.

The Government set a target for the 100 GWP solar power plant to be operational in three years. This target should not be understood as a matter of time; instead, it must be achieved through hard work and concrete deliverables.

“We will prove it; in the next three years, we will reunite here. Now, we always talk based on evidence,” said the President.

He was even optimistic that national energy self-sufficiency would be achieved in less than three years, as long as all stakeholders work to the maximum.

“Thank you to all stakeholders; today marks an important day. We will launch this, and I believe in less than three years we will achieve energy self-sufficiency,” he concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/MMB)
