President Prabowo Subianto emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to continued implementation of a free and active foreign policy and urged strengthening of inter-state cooperation to achieve justice and mutual prosperity.

The President delivered this message when receiving the credentials of nine Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors Designated Resident at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (06/09).

According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arif Havas Oegroseno, President Prabowo expressed appreciation for the presence of the ambassadors representing various friendly nations while emphasizing the importance of international collaboration amid increasingly complex global challenges.

“He expressed his pleasure at the presence of those ambassadors representing many countries. He also conveyed the basic principles of our foreign policy, which is free and active,” said Havas, accompanied by Deputy Minister Muhammad Anis Matta and Deputy Minister Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir in his statement to the media after the ceremony.

Additionally, President Prabowo also emphasized the need for world countries to strengthen cooperation in various fields to face common challenges and create a more just world order.

“He also conveyed that in the current era, countries need to cooperate and establish various forms of cooperation in various fields to create justice,” continued Havas.

He explained that the credentials ceremony is a diplomatic tradition commonly practiced in various countries as a marker of the beginning of an ambassador’s official duty in the receiving state. The credentials are signed by the head of state or head of government of each respective country.

“So what we are doing is now the tradition of receiving credentials from the ambassadors, whose letters are usually signed by either a president or a king. It depends on their respective countries,” he explained.

After the credentials presentation ceremony, President Prabowo and the ambassadors continued with a friendly gathering in a warm and informal atmosphere. According to Havas, this pattern is a common diplomatic practice in every credential presentation.

“After that, there is a friendly gathering, informal one. That is the pattern,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the ambassadors conveyed greetings from their respective heads of state to President Prabowo. They also expressed their desire to continue enhancing bilateral relations and expand cooperation with Indonesia in various fields.

“Usually the ambassadors convey greetings from their heads of state. So one by one they convey greetings and they each also want to enhance bilateral relations with Indonesia,” said Havas. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (EST/LW)
