President Prabowo Pushes ASEAN–Korea Digital Synergy as New Regional Growth Engine

President Prabowo Subianto Monday (10/27) attended the 26th ASEAN–Republic of Korea Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC), Malaysia.
On that occasion, President Prabowo underscored the importance of further strengthening the ASEAN–Republic of Korea partnership in responding to increasingly complex global challenges.
“We look forward to advancing the ASEAN–ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to tackle pressing and increasingly complex global challenges,” President Prabowo said in his remarks.
“In this dynamic landscape, it is essential for ASEAN and the ROK to work together to keep our economies open, connected, and inclusive. This will enable us to create an environment for sustainable growth and real opportunities for shared prosperity,” he said.
According to the President, strengthening economic cooperation mechanisms is crucial to achieving shared regional goals.
The Head of State also emphasized the need for the full implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and for further enhancement of the ASEAN–Republic of Korea Free Trade Area.
“We must reinforce regional supply chains. ASEAN is on track to become one of the most dynamic digital markets globally. The region’s gross digital merchandise value is projected to reach US$1 trillion by 2030,” he stressed.
The President explained that the synergy between ASEAN’s digital potential and the Republic of Korea’s technological strength could serve as a driving force for regional transformation.
President Prabowo also expressed belief that ASEAN and the Republic of Korea can leverage their complementary strengths to advance digital infrastructure, talent development, and AI governance, shaping a sustainable and inclusive digital future.
“We aspire for ASEAN to thrive as a vital engine of global growth,” he said, while underscoring the importance of maintaining peace and stability as the cornerstone of economic development.
The Head of State also reiterated Indonesia’s support for South Korea’s constructive role in promoting global peace.
“Indonesia supports South Korea’s efforts to serve as a partner for peace and security to ease tensions, encourage dialogue, and foster constructive engagement.
