A great number of national military and police personnel joined street cleaning workers on the night of Friday (06/12) to clear trash and materials left behind after a mass public demonstration in Central Jakarta.

In a video posted on the official Instagram account of the Cabinet Secretariat, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya expressed appreciation for all the personnel who helped clean up the area and make it ready for use by the public again.

“After keeping watch over the demonstration, let us work together to clean up the streets and make them ready for use by the general public tomorrow morning,” the Cabinet Secretary wrote in the video caption, which was uploaded on Saturday (06/13).

The footage shows military and police personnel working alongside street cleaning workers to collect rubbish and clean up the roads to maintain cleanliness and comfort of the public space to facilitate people’s activities.

A number of workers cleaned up various points around the protest site to remove litter and tidy up public facilities so the public can use them normally the following day.

According to the caption of the posted video, the activity—which took place from the night of Friday (06/12) until the early hours of Saturday (06/13)—reflected a spirit of togetherness in caring for public spaces. It underlined that, in addition to overseeing the peaceful and orderly delivery of public aspirations, military and police personnel also played a role in ensuring public facilities were ready for use again by the public.
