President Prabowo: Global Negotiations Must Advance National Interests

President Prabowo holds a meeting with several ministers on issues related to the economy at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java province on Sunday (02/15).

President Prabowo Subianto, on Sunday (02/15), summoned several ministers to his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java province, to discuss the strengthening of Indonesia’s strategy in dealing with global economic dynamics and negotiations.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated in a written statement that President Prabowo emphasized the direction and principles that the Government must uphold in every international economic negotiation. President Prabowo highlighted the critical importance of ensuring that every diplomatic move in the economic sector is in line with the national interests.

“[We must] ensure that Indonesia’s position in every economic negotiation with anyone, especially in the near future with the United States, must be the best and most beneficial for Indonesia,” the Cabinet Secretary wrote.

According to the Cabinet Secretary, President Prabowo also underlined that economic negotiations should not be merely short-term transactional in nature, but should have a direct impact on reinforcing the national economic structure. To that end, increasing the productivity of domestic industries and strengthening the global supply chain are key priorities.

“The President expects the negotiations to boost domestic industrial productivity as much as possible and bolster the global supply chain,” the Cabinet Secretary said.

Furthermore, he said, President Prabowo emphasized that every economic policy pursued by the Government must be oriented towards achieving tangible results felt by the nation and the country. “President Prabowo expects that every policy pursued must provide concrete benefits for Indonesia as soon and as much as possible,” he concluded.

The meeting reaffirmed the President’s commitment that Indonesia’s economic diplomacy must be sovereign, strategic, and beneficial to the national interests. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/TM)
