Cabinet Secretary: President Prabowo Subianto, President Emmanuel Macron Agree to Strengthen Indonesia-France Partnership

President Prabowo Subianto, on Tuesday (04/14), held a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, Paris. The meeting was part of the series of President Prabowo’s overseas visit to two great powers, Russia and France, on April 13–14, 2026.
“President Prabowo Subianto returned to Indonesia after a short two-day visit to two world superpowers, Russia and France, on April 13–14, 2026. These countries are two of the five countries holding veto powers at the United Nations (UN) and have significant powers in the economy and energy resources,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in a written statement.
He also stated that the meeting between the two heads of state took place in a warm and productive atmosphere for more than two hours. “The bilateral meeting between President Prabowo and President Emmanuel Macron lasted for more than two hours at the Élysée Palace, Paris,” he said.
During the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Teddy said that the two leaders discussed strengthened Indonesia-France strategic cooperation in various priority sectors. The discussion focused on developing cooperation in energy, education, digital communications, and long-term economic investment that give benefits to each other.
“The meeting discussed increased cooperation in various sectors, including energy, education, digital communications, and long-term economic investment,” he said.
The strong personal relationship between President Prabowo and President Macron also serves as an important foundation for strengthening the partnership between the two countries. Cabinet Secretary Teddy stated that this close relationship has been established since President Prabowo served as Minister of Defense and continues to this day.
“The strong relationship between the two leaders has been tied since President Prabowo served as Minister of Defense until today,” he said.
