President Prabowo Welcomes Peruvian President at Merdeka Palace

President Prabowo Subianto on Monday (08/11) welcomed Peruvian President, Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

The welcoming ceremony which started at about 10.00 a.m. Western Indonesia time brought grandeur since the procession accompanying the state guest entered the National Monument area and then proceeded to the Merdeka Palace. President Dina Boluarte was accompanied by a formation of 17 motorcycle troops, 60 cavalry troops, and around 3,000 students lined up along the road, waving both the Indonesian red-and-white flag and the Peruvian flag. The presence of thousands of students added to the lively atmosphere, reflecting the warm reception of the Indonesian people toward the Peruvian President.

President Prabowo personally welcomed President Dina Boluarte at the Merdeka Palace. The two leaders warmly shook hands before walking together to the veranda of the Palace to begin the official state ceremony.

The ceremony began with the national anthem of Peru, followed by Indonesia’s national anthem, “Indonesia Raya,” accompanied by a 21-gun salute. Afterward, both leaders inspected the guard of honor.

A moment later, President Prabowo introduced the Indonesian delegation to President Dina Boluarte. The Indonesian delegation consisted of Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Ministry of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesian Ambassador to Peru Ricky Suhendar. President Dina Boluarte also introduced her delegation.

The two leaders then proceeded to the credential room for a photo session and to sign the guestbook, followed by a tête-à-tête meeting in President Prabowo’s office. In his opening remarks, President Prabowo welcomed President Dina Boluarte and recalled his visit to Lima, Peru, in November 2024.

“Welcome to Indonesia. It is an honor for us, and we still remember our visit to Peru, to Lima, in 2024. We are very gratitude with Your Excellency’s visit. I would like to congratulate Your Excellency on the Independence Day of the Republic of Peru,” President Prabowo said.

Afterward, the two leaders had a bilateral meeting in the oval room of the Merdeka Palace. The meeting took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, and both delegations discussed potential cooperation opportunities in various sectors between the two nations.

The state visit concluded with a joint press statement by the two leaders. President Dina Boluarte’s visit marks a significant chapter in Indonesia–Peru diplomatic relations, paving the way for strategic collaboration in the future.
