Gov’t Accepts Perry Warjiyo’s Resignation, Destry Damayanti to Serve as Acting Bank Indonesia Governor

The Indonesian Government has officially accepted Perry Warjiyo’s resignation letter as Governor of Bank Indonesia.

“Mr. President accepted Mr. Perry Warjiyo’s resignation, while also expressing the utmost gratitude and appreciation for his dedication during his nearly seven years leading Bank Indonesia,” Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said at Bank Indonesia, Jakarta, on Monday (07/27).

The Minister added that the Government will process the issuance of a Presidential Decree on the honorable dismissal of Perry Warjiyo as Governor of Bank Indonesia. In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, the duties of Governor of Bank Indonesia will be assumed by Senior Deputy Governor, Destry Damayanti.

“Accordingly, in accordance with Law on Bank Indonesia, the office of Governor of Bank Indonesia will automatically be assumed by Senior Deputy Governor, who will subsequently carry out all duties of the Acting Governor. Under the law, the Senior Deputy Governor referred to is Mrs. Destry Damayanti,” he said.

Furthermore, the Minister underscored that the Government will continue to ensure the uninterrupted performance of Bank Indonesia’s duties and functions. The Government will also maintain close coordination with Bank Indonesia in implementing national economic policies, including safeguarding monetary and fiscal stability.

“On behalf of the Government, we would like to assure the public that we will continue to carry out our duties in accordance with the authority granted to us under the law. Bank Indonesia is responsible for maintaining our monetary policy, while the Government, in this case the Ministry of Finance, also carries out its fiscal function, of course, in close coordination,” he concluded.
