President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo led a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Nusantara International Convention Center and Hotel, which is part of Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) group in Nusantara Capital City (IKN), North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province, Monday (08/12).

The construction is expected to be an important milestone in the development of IKN facilities, especially ahead of the 79th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence.

“Today, I’m happy to break ground on Nusantara International Convention Center and Hotel. It will add more facilities in IKN, especially for the next year when eight thousand invitees attend the anniversary commemoration,” President Jokowi said.

The Head of State emphasized the importance of well-calculated planning in organizing national events, such as the 79th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence commemoration. At first, eight thousand invitees are expected to attend it, but the number must be reduced to 1,300 invitees due to current limited facilities.

“All the details must be well-calculated, such as the hotels, food, accommodation, transportation from Balikpapan city to IKN, all details must be calculated and not missed, which may lead to chaos,” President Jokowi explained.

President Jokowi encouraged RGE to complete the construction of the Nusantara International Convention Center and Hotel faster. He reaffirmed that the facilities’ construction is important to accommodate the needs of the new capital city.

“When will it be completed? Within 24 months, but it can be faster. Does it mean that it will be completed in the following anniversary commemoration? So, what it means? Once again, it is still insufficient to accommodate the invitees in the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence commemoration,” he remarked.
