President Prabowo Subianto Thursday (06/26), in a hybrid ceremony, inaugurated the operation and development of renewable energy projects across 15 provinces, a 30,000-barrel increase in oil production at the Cepu Block, and the groundbreaking of five geothermal power plant (PLTP) projects across Indonesia.

In his remarks, President Prabowo emphasized that these initiatives represent a significant milestone in achieving sustainable national energy self-sufficiency.

“The inauguration of renewable energy operations and development in 15 provinces, along with the 30,000-barrel increase in oil production at the Cepu Block, marks a highly significant moment in our nation’s development,” President Prabowo said, adding that through these programs and projects—and many more major initiatives that we must and will carry out—our efforts are directed toward achieving national energy self-sufficiency.

The Head of State also underscored that energy sovereignty is an integral part of national sovereignty. He stated that Indonesia possesses extraordinary renewable energy resources, which must be managed and utilized to their fullest potential.

“Today is proof of Indonesia’s capability to move toward energy self-sufficiency—an essential pillar for our nation’s future. Today, we inaugurate and commence the development of 55 new and renewable energy power plants. We also launch geothermal power plants as concrete evidence that Indonesia is advancing toward energy self-sufficiency. We will stand on our own feet, and we will be able to provide energy to all Indonesians in an efficient and cost-effective manner.”

Meanwhile, in his report, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the projects inaugurated today represent a total capacity of 379.7 megawatts, with an estimated investment value of around Rp25 trillion. He further noted that the projects are expected to boost the growth of local industries, with a domestic content level (TKDN) of up to 40 percent, and generate employment for more than 9,500 workers nationwide, including 1,404 workers in Ijen.

Minister Bahlil also reported a key achievement in the enhanced oil production at the Cepu Block. “Mr. President, we would also like to report that this increase of 30,000 barrels is an addition. Previously, Cepu produced 150,000 barrels, allowing the total output now to reach 180,000 barrels per day—meaning it will account for 25 percent of the national oil lifting,” Bahlil explained.

The Cepu Block project has recorded a total investment value of USD4 billion and has contributed over USD35 billion to state revenue, while also boosting regional income in Cepu and East Java.

“As for the project in Cepu, 99 percent of the workforce comprises local employees—sons and daughters of the Republic of Indonesia—and this is what we must continue to strive for,” Minister Bahlil concluded. (BPMI SETPRES) (APN/MUR)
