President Prabowo Invites Farmers, Laborers to Independence Ceremony in Jakarta

A number of farmers and laborers, like Darim Juanda, Nuroni, Bambang Edi Nurudin, and Sarip Mujianto, received the invitation to attend the commemoration ceremony of the 81st anniversary of the proclamation of Indonesia’s independence, taking place at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on August 17, 2026.
President Prabowo Subianto extended this opportunity to people from various professions as part of this year’s Independence Day celebrations. For them, the invitation was more than just a letter. It was also a recognition of the professions they represent and the dedication they have shown over the years.
Darim Juanda, a farmer who has worked in agricultural sector for 14 years in Karawang regency, said that he was touched and in disbelief when receiving the invitation. On behalf of farmers, he expressed hope that the Government will give special attention to Indonesia’s agricultural sector. Echoing similar sentiment, Nuroni, a 57-year-old farmer from Karawang who have been working in agricultural sector for more than 30 years, stated that he has never imagined to be given the opportunity to attend a state ceremony in Jakarta.
“First, I was surprised to find out that I am invited. I cannot believe that I received an invitation from the President. Second, I am honored as I learned that, among all farmers, I was chosen,” he said.
Bambang Edi Nurudin, a laborer from East Jakarta, who have been working in the industry for more than 23 years, expressed his happiness for the invitation, adding that it was like a present. He expressed hope that more laborers across Indonesia could get similar opportunities since it serves as a once-in-a-lifetime moment for many.
Another laborer, Sarip Mujianto, who has worked since 2010, also shared his heartfelt surprise and emotions. He said that the invitation reflected the Government’s attention to the working class who have been playing a key role in society.
“Thank you the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, who has paid close attention to laborers,” he said, adding that he cannot wait to tell his family and relatives about that prestigious invitation. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/TM)
