President Prabowo Subianto, Thursday (03/13), expressed his appreciation for the launch of a new mechanism of allowance distribution for regional civil service (ASN) teachers directly to the recipients’ bank accounts.

The launch that was held at Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education reflected the Government’s commitment to improving teachers’ welfare and ensuring more transparent and efficient state financial governance.

“I welcome this initiative and the launch of the new mechanism by directly transferring allowance for regional ASN teachers to their accounts. This is a significant step toward reducing inefficiencies,” the President said in his remarks.

According to the President, education is the key to nation-building and prosperity. Therefore, the Government makes education priority in the state budget.

“In nation-building, the only true path to a country’s success lies in education. Education determines whether a nation can achieve prosperity and long-term progress,” he said.

The President also highlighted significant challenges that are still faced by the nation, particularly corruption, which leads to budget leaks and hinders development. The launch of this new mechanism is expected to eliminate inefficiencies within the bureaucracy.

“We must eliminate these fraudulent practices. If it can be made long, why should it be made short? If it can be difficult, why make it easy?  These are the culture that we must erode,” he stressed.

On that occasion, the President emphasized his commitment to building a clean and corruption-free government.

The Head of State also underscored the importance of a prudent and efficient state budget management to ensure that every rupiah spent genuinely benefits the people.

“I will not back down when facing corruptors. They must understand that I am ready to die for this nation and its people. I am not afraid of any mafia, I am not afraid,” he firmly said.

In addition, President Prabowo reaffirmed his cabinet’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education in Indonesia.

“We will improve all schools as soon as possible. Large television screens will be installed in every school across the country, and we will establish boarding schools in every regency. My hope is that within the next four years, every regency will have a boarding school dedicated to supporting underprivileged families,” he explained.

In the meantime, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti stated that this policy follows the President’s directive to ensure public services are faster, more accurate, effective, and efficient. Under this new mechanism, regional ASN teachers’ allowance will be transferred directly to their accounts, eliminating intermediaries from the regional governments.

“Since 2010 until 2024, for approximately 15 years, teachers’ allowance has been transferred by the Ministry of Finance to regional governments’ accounts, specifically the Regional General Cash Account, before being distributed to teachers’ accounts. This process of fund transfer can take up to three months. As a result, teachers receive their allowances quarterly, and in some regions, delays occur due to various reasons,” the Minister said.

Furthermore, the Minister explained that a total of 1,476,964 ASN teachers will receive their allowance directly in their accounts, while 392,802 non-ASN teachers will also receive direct transfers from the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The process of data verification and validation is continuously being carried out to ensure that the disbursement runs smoothly and received by the right recipients.

“The direct transfer in March is a special gift for teachers, allowing them to celebrate Eid with joy, improve their well-being, and be more motivated in carrying out their noble duty of educating the nation,” the Minister remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RIF/MMB)
