President Prabowo Subianto has ordered his Ministers to adjust the Domestic Component Level (DCL) policy to make it more flexible and realistic in order to maintain Indonesia’s industry competitiveness in the global market.
The President made the statement during a dialogue session at the National Economic Forum held in Menara Mandiri, Jakarta, Tuesday (04/08).
“The aim of the policy is good, which is to strengthen nationalism. If you’ve known me long enough, you know that I am very nationalistic. I often say that if my heart was opened the color must be red and white,” the President said.
“However, we need to be realistic. Forcing the policy would ultimately make us less competitive. I strongly agree to make a more flexible DCL policy and maybe it can be replaced by incentives,” he added.
The Head of State also ordered his rank, especially the Ministers, to make the policy more realistic, giving less burden for the domestic industry. He also said that the policy is not merely a regulation but involves broader aspects.
“Let us adjust the policy to make it more realistic. The problem of domestic capability, domestic content is a broad problem. It is a problem related with education, science, and technology. With this problem, we should not complicate the policy through regulation making,” the President remarked. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Presidential Secretariat) (TCUD/EP)
