President Prabowo Subianto underscores that unity between ulema (religious scholars) and umara (government leaders) constitutes the key foundation for peace, prosperity, and the resurgence of the Indonesian nation, during his address at the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, Saturday (02/07).

President Prabowo Subianto underscored that unity between ulema (religious scholars) and umara (government leaders) constitutes the key foundation for peace, prosperity, and the resurgence of the Indonesian nation. The President delivered this message in his address at the event of Bersatu dalam Munajat untuk Keselamatan Bangsa (United in Prayer for the Safety of the Nation) and the Inauguration and Ta’aruf of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Executive Board for the 2025–2030 term, held at the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on Saturday (02/07).

At the outset of his remarks, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude and pleasure at being able to attend the event at the Istiqlal Mosque, which he described not only as the grand mosque of Indonesian Muslims, but also as a symbol of national unity and the spirit of national sovereignty. He stated that the Istiqlal Mosque represents the spirit of the Indonesian nation to be independent, sovereign, and self-reliant.

“This mosque is a symbol of the spirit of the Indonesian nation to become a nation that can protect all its people and the entire homeland of Indonesia,” the President said.

President Prabowo considered the inauguration of the MUI leadership as an important moment for strengthening unity between ulema and umara. He stressed that throughout human civilization, successful and prosperous nations are those that maintain peace, and that peace can only be achieved through unity between religious and government leaders.

“If the ulema and umara are united, Insha Allah, our nation will become a great and prosperous nation,” he affirmed.

The President also commended MUI for its consistent role as a pillar of stability, harmony, and tolerance in national life. He highlighted MUI’s active presence in various challenging situations, including during natural disasters in regions such as Aceh, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and other areas.

“MUI has never been absent in times of national hardship,” he added.

Furthermore, President Prabowo called on all elements of the nation to unite in facing national challenges, particularly in the effort to eradicate poverty across Indonesia. He emphasized that Indonesia is endowed with extraordinary natural wealth, but that the main challenge lies in the courage and capacity to safeguard and manage these resources for the benefit of the people.

The President also reaffirmed his commitment to combating corruption and upholding the rule of law, despite resistance from groups that do not wish to see a clean and accountable government.

“I have been sworn in before the people. I have been sworn to uphold the law, to uphold our Constitution, and to uphold all legislation. Therefore, I will not hesitate, and I will not retreat a single step,” the President stressed.

President Prabowo stated that the support and unity of ulema and umara provide him with moral strength in carrying out his mandate as President of the Republic of Indonesia. He expressed his conviction that through such unity, justice can be upheld throughout the country.

In closing, President Prabowo congratulated the newly inaugurated MUI leadership and expressed his hope that MUI would continue to carry out its service firmly and consistently for the benefit of the Muslim community, the nation, and all Indonesian people.
