Indonesia, Qatar Sign MoU to Launch Strategic Dialogue

President Prabowo Subianto and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani witnessed in person the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the State of Qatar, at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha, Sunday (04/13).

The MoU aims to launch a strategic dialogue between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Indonesia. It was signed by Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Qatari Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

This MoU marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral ties through the establishment of an annual Strategic Dialogue at the Foreign Minister level. In addition, the Senior Officials Meeting will be convened to prepare the dialogue agenda, while Ad Hoc Working Groups may be established to address specific cooperation programs.

The Strategic Dialogue aims to promote more comprehensive collaboration across a wide range of strategic sectors, including politics, regional and international affairs, defense and security, economy and energy, agriculture and food security, tourism, science and technology, health, sports, youth engagement, protection of Indonesian migrant workers, and joint efforts in multilateral forums.

The signing of this MoU reflects the strong commitment of both countries to expanding and deepening mutually beneficial bilateral relations. In addition, the signing of this MoU is also expected to strengthen the role of Indonesia and Qatar in responding to global challenges together. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat) (GWH/TM)
