President Prabowo Subianto Monday (06/01) led the 2026 Pancasila Day Commemoration Ceremony at the Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta.

The solemn ceremony served as a pivotal moment to strengthen the nation’s commitment to internalize the five principles of the state ideology Pancasila.

Following a formal report by Ceremonial Officer Brig. Gen. Fitriana Nur Heru Wibawa, the President as the Inspector of the Ceremony, proceeded to the main podium.

The ceremony commenced with national salutes, a moment of silence in honor of national heroes, and continued with the reading of the text of Pancasila by the Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) Ahmad Muzani, followed by the reading of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution by the Speaker of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin.

In his speech, President Prabowo stated that the Pancasila Day should be commemorated to remember the birth of Pancasila as the state foundation. He also said that the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno, presented the concept of Pancasila 81 years ago.

“Today, we are celebrating the birth of Pancasila. Eighty-one years ago, Bung Karno stood before the Investigating Committee for Preparatory Work for Independence (BPUPKI) and delivered his great concept that later served as the basis for the state philosophy of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.

He went on to say that Pancasila was born from a long historical journey, experiences, cultures, and the ideals of the Indonesian nation.

“Pancasila is a great consensus, a national agreement that unites our nation comprising of thousands of islands, hundreds of ethnic groups, hundreds of languages, and hundreds of different cultures,” he continued.

According to the President, the theme for this year’s Pancasila Day commemoration, namely “Pancasila Unites the Nation, Foundation for World Peace,” carries profound significance amid various global challenges and uncertainties.

“In a world increasingly polarized by conflicts, geopolitical rivalries, trade wars, and economic uncertainty, Indonesia has a robust foundation, namely Pancasila,” he said.

The ceremony concluded with a solemn prayer led by Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti, as a form of honor and respect for Pancasila principles as the nation and the state’s foundational ideology. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/LW)
