President Prabowo Receives NU Lifetime Membership Card
President Prabowo Subianto Monday (08/31) received a lifetime membership card from the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), from Rais Aam (Supreme Leader) Miftachul Akhyar at the Closing of the 35th NU Congress in Jombang regency, East Java province.
“I am impressed. I kept my promise. I received a call a few days ago and received news from Gus Yahya (Chairperson of NU Executive Board) that the membership card is ready. That is why I’m here. I came to keep my promise because promises must be kept,” he said.
The Head of State expressed appreciation for his status as a lifetime member, saying that being a member of NU serves as an opportunity to strengthen the spirit of togetherness in the life of the state and the nation.
“Today, I am accepted as a member of the Nahdlatul Ulama. Thank you. It means that the Nahdlatul Ulama is with all people of Indonesia. We will work together. We will join hands to work hard in all sectors,” he said, adding that it is important to manage the country’s resources for the greatest prosperity of the people.
“The key is to manage all our wealth so that it benefits all our people,” he said.
According to the President, as one of the largest community organizations in the country, NU plays a significant role in ensuring that people lead decent lives, a goal the Government is striving to achieve.
“We will make sure that the state is there for you, that the state is present among the people, so if the people need it, they can obtain soft loans from our own powers. They will no longer need middlemen or anyone else. This is our strategy, and we will achieve it shortly,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/LW)
