President Prabowo Urges Nation to Uphold Legacy of Its Founding Fathers

President Prabowo Subianto opens the 18th National Conference (Munas) of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) in Bandar Lampung, Lampung province, Wednesday (06/10).
President Prabowo Subianto has emphasized the importance of returning to the values and ideals inherited from Indonesia’s founding fathers as a foundation for shaping the nation’s future.
The President made the remarks during the 18th National Conference (Munas) of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) in Bandar Lampung, Lampung province, Wednesday (06/10).
In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed his belief that Indonesia has gradually drifted away from the vision and principles laid down by the nation’s founders.
According to the President, the founding fathers established a strong and far-sighted foundation for Indonesia’s journey as an independent, united, and sovereign nation.
“Our founding fathers left us an extraordinary legacy, what I would call brilliance. The first is, of course, the Youth Pledge: one homeland, one nation, and one language. The language chosen was neither the language of the majority nor that of a minority ethnic group, yet it was adopted as the national language and has succeeded in uniting us,” President Prabowo said.
The Head of State also underscored Pancasila as another enduring legacy that has safeguarded Indonesia’s unity for decades. According to him, the values embodied in Pancasila are often taken for granted, despite being one of the key factors that have enabled Indonesia to remain strong amid global challenges.
“The next brilliance is Pancasila. Pancasila unites us. I think we have accepted it to the point that many young people today regard it as something ordinary,” he added.
President Prabowo then invited all elements of society to reflect on current global conditions, which continue to be marked by conflicts and wars in various parts of the world. Amid such circumstances, he said, Indonesia possesses a valuable asset in the form of national unity, which must be preserved and appreciated.
“So, we should never take for granted what we have today. Amid all these global challenges, we must recognize that, in addition to Pancasila, our founding fathers also gave us the 1945 Constitution,” the President said.
On the occasion, President Prabowo emphasized that national development must always be guided by the blueprint set out in the Constitution.
The Head of State likened nation-building to the construction of a building, which requires a clear design and technical plan to stand firmly and function properly.
“We have neglected the most important pillar, namely the nation’s blueprint. How can we construct a building without a blueprint, without technical drawings? If we deviate from the blueprint, the building will collapse. We have been given the blueprint, yet we often act as if it is unimportant,” President Prabowo said.
