President Prabowo Calls for National Unity

President Prabowo Subianto has invited all parties to uphold democratic principle, and avoid violence and provocation.

“We must preserve the democracy that is in line with our history and culture, where differences of opinion do not cause hostility,” President Prabowo said in in his inaugural address at the Parliament Building, Jakarta, Sunday (10/20).

The President also asked all stakeholders to work hand in hand to build Indonesia towards a better future, by respecting differences and prioritizing cooperation.

In his address, President Prabowo also highlighted the importance of the people’s welfare. He emphasized that the true national independence is the people’s freedom from fear, poverty, and suffering.

On that occasion, the President stated that Indonesia will continue its free and active foreign policy and that Indonesia will have good relations with all countries, without joining any military bloc.

The President also reaffirmed Indonesia’s solidarity with the Palestinian people. Indonesia, he added, is ready to provide more assistance to address the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.

President Prabowo also extended appreciation to the previous leaders, especially the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, for leading the nation through various challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the end of his speech, President Prabowo invited all Indonesian people to unite and join hands for the future of the nation, with a spirit of mutual cooperation. (MAY/ABD) (RI/LW)
