President Prabowo Subianto Monday (09/22) attended the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held at the United Nations General Assembly Building, New York, the United States of America.

The conference, co-led by France and Saudi Arabia, serves as an important forum for international community to reaffirm its commitment to the two-state solution and to mobilize concrete support for the implementation.

Indonesia played a central role as one of the core group members driving the peace process. For Indonesia, participation in the forum was not merely symbolic.

President Prabowo Subianto’s presence at the UN General Assembly Hall affirmed Indonesia’s long-standing commitment to advocating for the independence and recognition of the State of Palestine.

Broad international support is expected to bolster Palestine’s efforts to pursue peace in a just and dignified manner, in full accordance with the principles of international law.

The conference opened with statements from five global figures: President of France Emmanuel Macron, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the 80th UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock, and President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, who delivered his remarks via video conference from Palestine.

President Prabowo Subianto was the fifth speaker among representatives from 33 countries and international organizations invited to share their views. The Head of State delivered his address following statements from Jordan, Turkey, Brazil, and Portugal.

The number of speakers at the forum was limited to 33, with priority given to core group countries that play crucial role in advancing the implementation of the two-state solution, including Indonesia.

The presence of the President among global leaders reflected Indonesia’s determination to persistently champion the Palestinian cause until a peaceful, permanent, and just solution for all Palestinians is achieved.

Global leaders also reiterated their supports for the full implementation of New York Declaration as a pathway to achieving the two-state solution.

As a core group member, Indonesia has played an active role in drafting the document, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of Presidential Secretariat) (AW/EP)
