Cabinet Secretary: President Prabowo’s Meeting with 13 Japanese CEOs to Promote Downstream Investment

President Prabowo Subianto meets with 13 Japanese CEOs in Tokyo, Japan, Tuesday (03/31).

President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday (03/31) held a meeting with 13 leaders of Japanese big companies as part of the President’s official visit to Japan, aiming to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

In a written statement, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that this meeting was part of the government’s strategic efforts to strengthen investment cooperation, particularly in encouraging industrial downstreaming as a national priority and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global supply chain.

The leaders of leading Japanese companies include those from Toyota Motor Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Panasonic Group, as listed below:

  1. Takayuki Ueda, President and CEO of INPEX, an oil and gas energy company;
  2. Nobumitsu Hayashi, Governor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), an international financing institution owned by the Japanese government;
  3. Yoshinobu Tsutsui, Chairman of Keidanren, the biggest business federation in Japan;
  4. Masayuki Omoto, President and CEO of Marubeni Corporation, a general trading company;
  5. Kenichi Hori, President and CEO of Mitsui & Co. Ltd., a trading and global investment company;
  6. Kosuke Uemura, President and CEO of Sojitz Corporation, a trading and investment company;
  7. Shingo Ueno, President and CEO of Sumitomo Corporation, a trading and global investment company;
  8. Christophe Weber, CEO of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, a global pharmacy company;
  9. Shinichi Sasayama, President and CEO of Tokyo Gas Co. Ltd., an energy and gas company;
  10. Masahiko Maeda, CEO of Toyota Asia Region;
  11. Katsuya Nakanishi, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Corporation, a trading and global investment company;
  12. Yuki Kusumi, President and Group CEO of Panasonic Group, an electronics and technology company; and
  13. Keita Ishii, President and COO of Itochu Corporation, a trading and global investment company.

During the meeting, President Prabowo encouraged Japanese investors to expand their investment in Indonesia, particularly in the downstream sector, which has high added value.

“President Prabowo encouraged Japanese investors to be more active in expanding their investment in Indonesia, particularly in the downstream sector, to increase added value and create jobs for the people,” Cabinet Secretary continued.

This meeting also marks a continuation of previous significant investment achievements, with an investment value of more than Rp380 trillion, demonstrating high confidence of the investors in Indonesia’s economic prospects.

Through direct dialogue with global industry leaders, the Government affirmed its commitment to creating a conducive, responsive, and results-oriented investment climate, while strengthening the Indonesia-Japan strategic partnership for the future. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/AW)
