Gov’t Records Major Progress in First 20 Months, From Legal and Economic Reforms to Village-Level Supply and Retail Chain

President Prabowo Subianto affirmed that a range of strategic national issues has begun to be successfully addressed within the first 20 months of his administration.
The President delivered this statement on Monday (07/20) while presiding a Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta.
The President also revealed that the Government had resolved 108 long-standing national issues during the first 18 months in office.
As time progresses, the President expressed confidence that the number of issues addressed has continued to grow in line with various achievements recorded by his administration.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, in the book that has been distributed to all of you, it is recorded that 108 vital national problems were resolved through various decisions within the first 18 months of this administration. Today, our administration has been running for 20 months, so naturally, we have resolved even more issues [since then],” the President stated.
One of the key achievements highlighted by the President is the establishment of Indonesia’s first Bullion Bank for in the country’s economic history.
According to him, within just one year, the institution managed 153 metric tons of gold valued at approximately US$20 billion, representing a nationally anchored source of economic strength that is recognized internationally.
“In just one year, the bank we established has come to manage US$20 billion worth of gold. This reflects an economic strength that is acknowledged internationally, and I believe this will continue to grow in the years ahead. We have already achieved world-class results, even [without fanfare],” he added.
In the legal reform sector, the President emphasized that the Government has raised judges’ salaries, which had gone unchanged for 12 years.
The Government, he added, is also prioritizing the provision of housing for judges to uphold the honor, welfare, and integrity of the judiciary.
Furthermore, he noted that the Government has implemented a bad debt write-off policy for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) since November 2024, enabling small business owners to restart their operations.
At the same time, infrastructure development and efforts to strengthen the village economy are being accelerated through the construction of village bridges, the establishment of Red and White Fishing Villages, and the rollout of Red and White Village Cooperatives.
The Head of State also explained that to date, more than one thousand Red and White Village Cooperatives are now operational, with a target of 30,000 active cooperatives by the end of 2026.
These cooperatives, he added, are designed not only as business entities, but also as hubs equipped with warehouses, cold storage facilities, distribution fleets, retail outlets, agricultural machinery workshops, and as distributors of subsidized goods.
“For the first time in the history of the Republic of Indonesia, the Government will have a [supply and retail chain] extending from the central level all the way to the villages,” remarked the President.
President Prabowo Subianto further emphasized that these achievements provide an essential foundation for building an Indonesia that is more independent, resilient, and sovereign Indonesia.
The Government, he added, will continue to accelerate the implementation of strategic programs so that the benefits of development are felt tangibly and equitably by all Indonesians. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (NST/EP)
