President Prabowo Subianto, Friday (8/22), gave directives to thousands of teachers and principals of Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School) at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo), Jakarta. This event served as a forum for silaturahmi (amicable gathering) and appreciation for educators involved in the Sekolah Rakyat program.

The event began with the playing of the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, which was solemnly listened by all attendees. The atmosphere in the main hall of JIExpo was immediately filled with a spirit of unity, reflecting a shared commitment to building a superior future generation with good personality.

On this occasion, Laela Ali and Salwa Aulia, representatives of Sekolah Rakyat students, recited poems with deep emotion. They expressed their gratitude and pride for the presence of Sekolah Rakyat, which provide learning opportunities and hope for Indonesia’s young generation to keep pursuing their dreams.

In his directives, President Prabowo expressed his gratitude and high appreciation to the teachers and principals who had been selected through a selection process. He also conveyed a message that the teachers and principals should educate the nation’s future generations well.

“These teachers should be continuously guided and nurtured. Principals, you have a very noble task. You are preparing the nation’s future generation. You are working on breaking the cycle of poverty. These children you educate will eventually return to their parents and lift them out of poverty,” said President Prabowo.

Meanwhile, in his report, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf said that the teachers and principals had previously gone through a rigorous selection process conducted by the relevant ministries and institutions. According to the Minister, those who have passed the selection process are ready to create elementary school graduates into intelligent, well-rounded, and skilled generations.

“They will be ready to continue on to higher education or to work and become entrepreneurs using their skills. With their personality, they will be ready to become agents of change for their families and communities. They are also ready to break the cycle of poverty in Indonesia, as expected by Mr. President,” said the Minister. (BPMI of the Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/MUR)
